The choice of domestication and foreignization strategies has long been an inevitable problem faced by translators and scholars.Aimed at target language readers, domestication strategies require the translators to use idiomatic expressions and language specifications in target language to make the translation smooth and fluent.Foreignization is a source language-oriented way of translation, which requires the translators to maintain the foreign flavor and preserve some exoticism. The author chooses Saint Anything written by an American writer—Sara Dessen as the text for translation practice. The novel vividly describes character's psychology and dialogue by virtue of a nebbish girl, and it tells us that the core of a good family relationship lies in understanding and tolerance and all family members should be mutually understanding and considerate. This report centers on the analysis of the translation of Saint Anything on the basis of domestication and foreignization.Through analyzing the views of domestication and foreignization of great translators home and abroad, the author has learned more theoretical knowledge. This report discusses the application of domestication strategies and foreignization strategies in detail during translating the text and draws a conclusion to the report, and introduces the author's experience and suggestions in the translation practice.Taking Saint Anything as the translation example, and taking domestication and foreignization as the translation perspectives, the author explores the characteristics and strategies so as to further comprehend the theories and improve the practical skills.
