Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is one of the treasures of the Chinese nation and acts as an important bridge for the Chinese nation to communicate with other world civilizations. The English translation of TCM has both the nature of science and technology and the characteristics of cultural translation. With the advancement of globalization and the rise of TCM craze, the realistic demands for the translations of TCM are growing fast. In different linguistic and cultural situations, the three strategies of domestication, foreignization and hybrid have played different parts in the translation of related TCM texts. They are inter-complementary and inter-congruous. From the perspective of global localization, based on the writer’s translation cases, this paper attempts to present how translators as cultural coordinators flexibly use different strategies in the process of cultural filtration. It is expected to enlighten the practice of TCM translation in macro-strategy perspective.
