A Study On The C-E Diplomatic Interpretation From The Perspective Of Adaptation Theory

Nowadays,China's strength is attracting more and more attention.The annual press conference held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is an important window for China's foreign exchange.C-E diplomatic interpretation in these meetings is equally noticeable.With the increasing demand for diplomatic interpretation,the research on C-E diplomatic interpretation is also deepening.Therefore,the study of C-E diplomatic interpretation has both practical and academic significance.Under the guidance of Adaptation Theory,this thesis analyzes the texts and videos of consecutive interpretation of Foreign Minister's press conferences from 2017 to 2019,and discusses the adaptation strategies of C-E diplomatic interpretation.This thesis introduces the research background,research objective and significance,research methods and the framework of the thesis.This thesis briefly describes the current research situation of Adaptation Theory and its application in interpretation research,introduces Adaptation Theory,including four perspectives used to analyze Adaptation Theory and the combination of Adaptation Theory and diplomatic interpretation.On the basis of carefully watching the live video of consecutive interpretation and transliterating the translated text,under the guidance of Adaptation Theory,this thesis analyzes the cases from four perspectives: the adaptation of communicative context and linguistic context under contextual correlates of Adaptation,the adaptation of lexical level,syntactic level,discourse level under structural objects of adaptation,dynamics of adaptation,salience of the adaptation process,and attempts to analyze the embodiment of Adaptation Theory in C-E diplomatic interpretation.Finally,the thesis summarizes the research results,shortcomings and suggestions for the future research direction.Through the analysis of this thesis,it is concluded that Adaptation Theory is feasible to guide C-E diplomatic interpretation.Interpreters need to accumulate relevant knowledge in advance,improve their awareness of adaptation,improve their language ability,and enhance their psychological quality.Only in this way,in the process of interpretation,will the interpreter choose words more appropriately,better grasp the language environment,adapt to the habits and differences in language and culture,and accurately convey the meaning of the speaker's words to the receiver as much as possible to express the implied intention of the speaker's words.At the same time,this thesis hopes to provide some practical reference value for interpretation majors in the practice of C-E diplomatic interpretation.
