The adjective reduplication ‘ABB' is a vivid form of adjectives,whose main function is to serve as predicate and attribute.The function of ‘ABB' adjective as adverbial has gradually become one of its main grammatical functions.For foreign students learning Chinese,‘ABB' adjectives as predicate and attribute are easy to learn.However,as an adverbial grammatical function,Chinese learners are not only difficult to output,but also prone to errors.In this paper,the adjective reduplication ‘ABB' as adverbial is used as.This paper analyzes the syntactic,semantic and pragmatic aspects of ABB structure.It also discusses the reasons of Chinese learners' output difficulties and errors as well as some suggestions on the arrangement of Chinese teaching materials in order to promoting teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Chapter 1 summarizes the previous research results and analyzes the current situation of the research.Given that,we confirm the purpose and significance of this paper.In addition,the theoretical basis of research methods and the source of corpus are explained in this paper.In Chapter 2,the structure of ‘ABB(+?)+VP' is analyzed.By summarizing and sorting out the ABB adjectives in 800 Words of Modern Chinese(the Revised Edition)by L? Shuxiang,the investigation scope of ABB is determined.Chapter 3,semantic analysis of ABB structure.This part mainly analyzes the restriction of this structure on ABB and VP as well as the relationship between them,and the semantic orientation and features.Chapter 4 first describes the pragmatic features of ‘ABB(+?)+VP' structure and its evaluation of ABB,and then discusses the textual function of ‘ABB(+ ?)+VP'structure.Chapter 5 analyzes the errors of using ‘ABB(+?)+VP' structure.Mainly through the investigation of HSK dynamic composition corpus and the analysis of survey testpapers,the errors are summarized and analyzed.Chapter 6 examines the arrangement of Chinese teaching materials,and puts forward suggestions for the arrangement.Through the ABB adjectives appeared in the comprehensive textbook the Chinese Proficiency Vocabulary and Grade Outline Chinese Characters,the Development of Chinese and Boya Chinese Comprehensive Teaching Material,puts forward suggestions for the defects in the compilation of teaching materials.Chapter 7 is the conclusion,which summarizes the main points of this paper and explains the conclusion of this study.
