Chinese grammar is one of the most important and difficult in teaching Chinese as a second language for its wide variety of knowledge and complex rules.Especially in the primary stage,for learners of Chinese as a second language,grammar learning is even more difficult in understanding and applying.In view of this situation,TCSL mainly relies on some media and means,mainly on the learners' mother tongue(mainly English)to help learners master the core essence of grammar,so the accurate English translation on the textbook is of vital importance.This paper studies two widely used and representative textbooks of Chinese as a second language,that is Developing Chinese I,edited by Xu Chengwei,and New Practical Chinese Textbook 1,edited by Liu Xun,to explore the similarities and differences in English annotations on the same grammatical points in the two books.Using Nida's translation theory of functional equivalence,this paper selects typical grammar points and makes a detailed comparison and analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of grammatical English annotations in the two textbooks.Through comparative empirical research and combined with the current practical experience in teaching Chinese as a second language(TCFL),this paper aims to find out the common problems in the translation of grammatical knowledge,explore the rules and methods of optimizing the translation of grammatical knowledge,and explore the ways to further improve the English annotation of grammar.This paper focuses on the similarities and differences between the two books Developing Chinese I and New Practical Chinese Textbook 1 when they annotate the same grammatical points in English.A comparative study is done from two aspects.The first aspect focuses on the choice of grammar rules in the target language.In the second chapter,through the comparison analysis of five groups of vocabulary in English comments,the paper points out that when it comes to the grammar rules,we cannot only consider translating concisely,we also highlight the practice of teaching and learning Chinese as a second language,aim at students' errors,take improving the learner's Chinese language application ability as the goal,pay more attention to the transformation of the translation to English equivalent grammar.At the same time,pragmatic examples,diagrams and other intuitive application scenarios should be appropriately added to make up for the cognitive differences in the translation of grammatical notes.The second aspect focuses on the translation notes of the unique grammatical knowledge of Chinese.In the third chapter,in view of the commonly used sentence patterns of English translation,the paper is prominent on the analysis of the peculiar Chinese grammar,I put forward 3 ways of translation,that is literal translation plus explanation,contrast + added information and graphic + situation dialogue.Moreover,the feasibility and effectiveness of these methods are analyzed.The fourth chapter summarizes the problems existing in the two textbooks,find out the reasons and gives specific suggestions.English grammar translation should highlight the knowledge transformation of grammar and should not only consider the English translation that corresponds to the Chinese sentences,otherwise it is easy to mislead learners and cause the omission and confusion of grammar cognition.At the same time,for the unique grammatical points in Chinese,we might as well take literal translation as the basis and supplement it with necessary knowledge explanation,add some necessary illustration and pragmatic examples to help learners grasp the characteristics of and rules connotation.
