The report is a translation practice report, with the book Our Wealth Is Loving Each Other as its SL of translation which is written by Karen J.Brison,an American anthropologist. The present writer translates the first three chapters.According to Peter Newmark's classification of text types, this text is a content-based informative text whose main function is to faithfully convey information to readers. In addition to understanding relevant cultural terms, the social science text contains many long sentences. It is necessary for the present translator to choose appropriate translation techniques within the theoretical framework in order to produce a more ideal translation. In view of that, taking the typical translation of long sentences in social science texts as examples, the present writer exemplifies the E-C translation of long sentences in social science texts under the guidance of Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory, hoping to explore the translation techniques of long sentences in this kind of texts. The present writer adopts five translation techniques: sequence, reverse, division, embedment and recast to achieve fluent and idiomatic translation on the basis of faithfulness to the original text.It is expected that this report will be beneficial to translators who work on the translation of long sentences in social science texts.
