In terms of reality,we find ourselves in a world of fraught with challenges.All countries would like to be far from wars and pursue peace.In order to better promote international development and cooperation,we must learn from history.Therefore,the translation of historical texts plays an increasingly important role in cultural exchanges.This translation practice report is based on the first two chapters of the book Berlin between the two worlds by Ronald A.Francisco,an American writer.From the perspective of foreign policy of major countries after World War II,this book reviews the major events after World War II and discusses the future of Berlin.The book belongs to the historical text,the language is plain and rigorous,with a strong narrative.In writing,in order to present the history more truly to the readers,the author uses a lot of long difficult sentences.Therefore,in the process of translation,the translator chooses Skopos theory as the theoretical support and follows three principles of Skopos theory,namely,Skopos principle,coherence principle and faithfulness principle.He analyzes the long and difficult sentences in the text by means of sequencing,inversion,conversion,splitting and comprehensive strategies,so as to accurately convey the original content to the readers,eliminate cultural differences and make the users and purposes of the target language text The receiver of Chinese text achieves emotional communication.Through the research and analysis of the translated text,on the one hand,the translator hopes to promote the understanding of translation theory and improve the translation ability;on the other hand,the translator believes that this translation practice has reference value for similar research in the future and plays a certain auxiliary role in the study of contemporary international relations.
