According to time,level and traditional three-dimensional spatial transformation,the aim of spatial economics is to study the law of economic development,to predict the trend of economic development,to carry out economic spatial layout,to adjust industrial spatial structure,and to realize sustainable economic development.In recent years,people have paid more attention to the conflict between economic activities and space with the development of economy.So the author selected a book in the field of spatial economics The Power of Space as the source text.This practice report is based on the excerpt from The Power of Space(from Chapter One to Chapter Five and Chapter Seven).According to text typology,The Power of Space belongs to the informative text which focuses on transmission of information as well as the logic of sentences and texts.Meanwhile,it also emphasizes on simplicity,accuracy and clarity of language.This text is easy to be comprehended but some sentences cause problems in the translation process.Therefore,the author uses translation strategies such as omission,division and combination to translate this report as accurately as possible in accordance with the principle of accuracy,faithfulness and communication.Faithfully and accurately translating its contents will be conducive to foreign readers' understanding of the relationship between China's spatial layout and the current economic situation.This report consists of four chapters.Chapter One includes the translator's task,introduction of Lu Ming and the content of The Power of Space,its text type,language characteristics and required competences of the translator.Chapter Two introduces translation process,including principles of translation in informative texts,practical preparations and translation tools.Chapter Three analyzes long sentences,repetitious sentences and zero-subject sentences in case studies,and this part puts forward some coping strategies such as omission,conversion and division.In the last Chapter,it summarizes experience gained from the translation process,problems yet to be solved and suggestions for further study.It is hoped that this practice report can help translators to better understand translation practices of informative texts and to provide a reference for the translation of long and difficult sentences in this kind of texts.
