A Report On E-C Translation Of Network Sales Service Contract

This is a report on the E-C translation of Network Sales Service Contract.The contract is a business contract which covers the aspects of sales,warehousing,branding and digital marketing,etc.The translation task was assigned by the person who is in charge of the international affairs of the e-commerce company.The translation needs to be faithful to the source text and convey clear and accurate meaning to the target readers.The contract is a formal and rigorous legal text with the following characteristics.Firstly,from the lexical aspect,there are a large number of business and legal terms,which make the language more professional.And high-frequent use of nominalized words is one of its prominent features.In addition,“shall” is the most used modal verb.From the syntactic aspect,long and complex sentences and passive voice sentences are often used to ensure the logic and precision of the text.This translation report includes five chapters.The first chapter consists of the background of the task and the commissioner's requirements.The second chapter briefly introduces the whole translation process from the pre-translation preparations to the proofreading and review.The third chapter analyzes the lexical and syntactical features of the source text.The fourth chapter lists specific cases and proposes corresponding translation solutions to them.The fifth chapter summarizes the translator's experience obtained through this translation project.Based on the analysis of the characteristics in the source text,the translator proposes specific translation methods and techniques.For some legal and e-commerce terms,the translator refers to relevant materials and chooses the most appropriate equivalents.With regard to the nominalized words in the source text,the translator converts the nouns into verbs.In addition,the modal verb “shall” is translated to “?” or “?” or can be omitted according to different contexts.At the syntactic level,long and complex sentences are rendered by maintaining or changing their original sequences.Passive voice sentences are converted into Chinese active voice sentences or can be translated by using some words with passive senses.
