| With the deepening and expanding of China’s reform and opening up, particularly, since the accession tothe WTO, the economic exchanges and cooperation with foreign countries have continued to be deepen. In thisprocess of global cooperation and competition, the business activities among global trade organizations andenterprises have been developed so frequently that business English has become an essential communicationaltool as a language. On the other hand, the business contract, being considered as an important cooperative formin the international trade, is a legal text to maintain and preserve the rights and interests of both sides. During theprocess, translation acts as the role of bridge. Business contract English is a kind of language with special use,covering the characteristics of business English and legal English, namely, accuracy, rigor, and specification aswell as complex structure and long sentence, all these features intensify the difficulty of the business contracttranslation and put forward high requirement to the quality of the translation.This paper, through the translation practice based on the domestic sales contract, describes the author’s taskof the translation of domestic sales contract, and the whole process and the case analysis. It also briefs thelanguage features, discusses and summaries some basic translation principles and skills of sales contract. Thekeynote of the paper is to mainly illustrate a large number of representative examples emerging in the translationprocess, especially adopting different translation skills and methods towards special words, phrases andsentences, and makes the meaning of translated text close to the original meaning at full stretch. The authorexpects that the business contract translation can contribute to the further development of the study, at the sametime, it may be wished be helpful and suggestive for other translators to deal with such case through thistranslation report. |
