A Report On E-C Translation Of The Chapter 7 Of China Fast Forward

In recent years,China and even the world economy have increasingly paid more attention to the energy issue.The scholars have made much study on this aspect.For these reasons,the translation of literature on science and technology(LST)has also attracted extensive attention.Based on the translation of the chapter related to alternative energy in the book China Fast Forward,this thesis analyzes the foreign scholars' views on China's alternative energy,and at the same time to analyze the translation skills of scientific and technological texts,and demonstrates its translation methods,which have certain application value.The thesis uses coherence and fidelity rule and takes “understanding,expression,flexibility” as the framework to explore the problems encountered in the process of translating.At first,this thesis states the background,research status and research significance of the topic.Next,the process of translation task is described in detail,including preparation,translation and proofreading.Then,the author uses the case study method and the qualitative analysis method to analyze the difficulties in the process of translation,and carries out the case analysis from the three aspects of vocabulary,sentence and text,among which the sentences are divided into attributive clause,passive sentences and complex sentences.After analyzing and concluding those cases one by one,the thesis demonstrates some translation skills,such as transformation,extension of semantic meaning,supplementation,deletion and so on.What's more,the thesis also summarizes the corresponding translation principles and methods of scientific and technological texts,and concludes translation strategies of difficult,passive and complex sentences in scientific and technological literature.It is hoped that the study can provide reference and instructive suggestions for the translation practice of similar texts.
