The Report Of Consecutive Interpretation On NHK Education Program Knock Out The Bullies

In recent years,the number of bullying incidents on campus exposed by the news and the Internet has been increasing both at home and abroad,which has gradually attracted widespread attention from the international community.Many countries make laws concerned with bullying at school in order to avoid the incidents.However,to solve this problem at root,we must analyze the phenomenon of bullying on campus,find out the reasons,understand the psychological activities of bullies,victims,and bystanders,and then get solutions.In order to promote the resolution of this problem,the report selected a special program,Knock Out the Bullies,on the Japanese educational website NHK for School as the interpretation material.The main content of the program is that the host,guests and students observe the conflicts in the class together,analyze the development and the causes of bullying,and find solutions.The report consists of the following five chapters.The first chapter is introduction.I list the bullying cases in 2019,investigate the latest data in 2019 and then explain the severity of bullying,so as to determine the content of the practice,and briefly explain the purpose and significance.The practice content is a special program on the Japanese education website,Knock Out the Bullies.It consists of 20 episodes,each of which lasts 10 minutes.Eight of them are selected for interpretation practice,and the number of words in Japanese is about 22,600.The purpose of this show is to find solutions to bullying.The language of the program is colloquial.Finally,it introduces the core and three principles of Skopos Theory,which is used as a theoretical guidance to flexibly handle lexical and sentence interpretation.The second chapter is advanced research at home and abroad.Related researches were conducted on China Knowledge Online by searching keywords such as “bullying translation” and “program interpretation”.Also,related researches on broadcasting interpretation were conducted on Ci Nii in Japan by searching the keyword “broadcast interpretation”.The third chapter is practice process.Firstly,preliminary preparations are made,including program feature analysis,vocabulary accumulation,theoretical knowledge reserve,and so on.Secondly,the simulation is conducted for consecutive interpretation.The 8 episodes last 80 minutes in total,and the interpretation process is recorded.Finally,transcribing the material videos and recordings is to find out the key points and difficulties in the process of interpretation.The fourth chapter is case analysis.Based on the problems in practice,the Skopos theory and translation strategies,this paper discusses the solutions from two aspects: vocabulary and sentences.Vocabulary translation,technical terms should be prepared before translation,and general terms should be chosen according to the context and the expression habits of the targetlanguage audience.Sentence translation is analyzed mainly under the guidance of Skopos theory so as to choose appropriate translation strategies,such as restructuring,addition,omission and inversion to solve the problem.The fifth chapter is summary,which is to summarize the main contents of this practical activity and the problem-solving strategy.
