A Report On The Translation Of Climate Change And Renewable Energy From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

In line with the trend of international energy transformation,China,as a major energy producer and consumer,has always adhered to the sustainable development strategy,and been devoted to reducing its dependence on fossil fuels,thus pushing forward the energy transformation.Climate Change and Renewable Energy proposes unique insights and ideas on the energy transformation,which will definitely be beneficial for researchers and policy makers to draw upon International experience,strengthen international energy cooperation and formulate reasonable development strategies,so as to accelerate the sustainable development of energy.According to the Skopos theory,the primary principle determining translation is the purpose of translation action.Different translation strategies and methods are determined by different purposes,that is “the end justifies the means”.In view of the fact that the translation material is an informative text which aims to clearly convey the information of the source text to the target readers,the author selected the Skopos theory as her guiding theory.The analysis was carried out from three aspects: lexical,syntactical and textual.In terms of vocabulary,technical vocabularies,semi-technical vocabularies and compounds are frequently seen in the original text,and the translations of such words should be guided under the Skopos theory,so as to guarantee the accuracy and specialty.At the syntactical level,there are some difficulties in translation of passive sentences,attributive clauses,negative sentences,and long and difficult sentences.In order to ensure the readability of translations,translation strategies should be adopted flexibly,guided by the skopos rule,fidelity rule and coherence rule;At the textual level,restructuring,splitting and amplification were adopted to cope with references,substitutions,ellipses and conjunctions,so as to achieve the cohesion and coherence of the text.The author hopes that this translation practice can provide reference for related researchers in our country to deal with climate change issues and promote energy transformation and sustainable development through the utilization of renewable energy,and offer some suggestions for the translation of texts that are related to the transformation of renewable energy.
