This is a report on the internship as a financial trans-editor for Guangzhou Jinshi Information and Technology Co.Ltd.,a Guangzhou-based financial service company.The report centers around social media-based financial trans-editing,represented by Twitter.Here,“social media” embodies a context,“financial” makes clear the translation field,while “trans-editing” is a special branch of translation,these three words,when combined together,demonstrates a special translation practice where less people engaging and less discussed in translation study.Also,as a developed social media,Twitter' s typicality gives possibility for discussing social media context.Its communication mechanism,platform design or functions,including hashtags and character limit make this context and its effect over translation worth of studying.In this report,the author gives a systematic summary of textual features in English tweet,particularly the more special and less discussed ones.A quantitative analysis of these features' proportion based on 600 tweet trans-editing works is also provided,which could offer an insight for future study.Based on rationale support,including stylistics,general principles guiding financial translation,translation equivalence and context consideration,coupled with specific cases,the author introduces five applicable strategies for trans-editing financial information under social media context.For language constraints in input and output processes as well as the technical challenges,she details the solutions and some feasible tools,like parallel text,search engines and database.This report is expected to give more useful suggestions for works of financial information trans-editing under social media context in China.
