A Report On The E-C Translation Of Doing Business In Belarus 2018 (Chapter 3)

This report is an English-Chinese translation practice report.The source text is Chapter3 of Doing Business in Belarus 2018.It is a Sub-national business environment evaluation report issued by the World Bank,which introduces the business supervision and reform of different cities and regions of Belarus.It is an informative text,so the language features normativeness and unity.The entrusting party of this translation task is Gansu Provincial Highway Aviation Tourism Investment Group Co.,Ltd.in Lanzhou.This report mainly presents the entire process of translation practice,including introduction,task description,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.The guiding theory of translation is Newmark's text typology theory.In the translation process,the author emphasized the original content rather than the form,and accurately conveyed the original information in a standardized language.In the case analysis,the author displayed a detailed analysis of translation process from the lexical features,syntactic features and discourse features.The lexical features include terminologies,word conversion and extension of word meaning.The syntactic features focus on passive voice,conditional adverbial clauses,and long and complex sentences.The discourse features present repetition,semantic collocation and conjunction.In the process of translation,the author mainly used translation strategy of communicative translation and translation skills including amplification,conversion,inversion,omission and sentence division.After writing the paper,the author has a profound understanding of features of informative text which lays a foundation for the translation of such evaluation reports.The author's ability to collect data has also been improved in the preparation process of translation.It is hoped that this practice report will also be useful for other translators who will translate the similar informative texts.
