The translation of the United Nations Department of Global Communication documents has been carried out based on the Yi CAT Online Translation Management Platform under the “Machine Translation(MT)+ Post-editing(PE)” model. It is concluded that both the Platform and the application of machine translation have brought prominent positive effects to the final translation output and effectively relieved translators' burden on the translation of specific words, the understanding of the original text and the construction of target sentences. However, machine translation is also dwarfed by some limitations, which requires professional translators to check and correct the machine translation output, namely post-editing.This paper conducts a case study on UN documents translation and discusses in depth the positive effects and limitations of machine translation.Through documentary, comparative and inductive methods, this paper puts forward some targeted feasible post-editing solutions, mainly centering on the translation of specific words and long sentences,as well as how to achieve discourse coherence. This paper attempts to provide some suggestions and insights conducive to the optimization of machine translation technology and the application of the “MT+PE” model in UN documents translation.
