Climate change is of great importance to each country and individual.In the context of severe climate change and frequent occurrence of extreme weather events,the UN report puts us in a global position to understand the impact of global warming on the economy and the strategies to deal with it.2019 Commodities and Development Report is on the theme of Commodity Dependence,Climate Chang and the Paris Agreement.It provides valuable insights into climate-related challenges faced by commodity dependent developing countries and discusses the policies,strategies and actions needed to overcome them at the national and international levels.This project aims to translate this official report.The quality of its translation influences our accurate grasp of international climate mitigation and adaptation policies and the corresponding economic policies and measures.The significance of this report lies in trying to discuss applicable strategies to improve the translation quality of the UN document.This report is based on the E-C translation project of 2019 Commodities and Development Report(Excerpts),guided by Katharina Reiss' s text typology.This report analyses the text type of the official document,which is an informative text,and probes into the issues and problems met in the translation from three aspects: the translation of words,which involve terms,difficult words and polysemy;the translation of long and complex sentences and the translation of discourses,including the formality and fluency of official expressions.The approaches of the use of United Nations database,literal translation with annotation,and liberal translation are adopted to solve the difficulties on the lexical level.Cutting,inverting and recasting are applied on the syntactic level and to ensure the fluency,logicality and formality of the text,the use of formal words,conversion of parts of speech and the explicitation of connectives are employed on the discourse level.This report proposes some applicable strategies for the translation of official documents,hoping to provide some valuable references for the future translation of relevant texts.
