A Project Report On The C-E Translation Of Regulations Of Jiangsu Province On Supporting Services For The Aged

The construction of the socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era.The translation of local rules and regulations is an important means for China's legal discourse system to go global,and it helps to strengthen the national cultural soft power and the international influence of Chinese legal culture.In this context,the project report is unfolded on the basis of the C-E translation practice of Regulations of Jiangsu Province on Supporting Services for the Aged.The author mainly analyzes linguistic features at the lexical and syntactic levels and further illustrates the difficulties in the process of translation practice and proposed corresponding solutions.The difficulties in translating these Regulations can be generally summarized at the lexical and the syntactic level.From the perspective of lexicon,the main difficulties lies in the massive use of terminology of social services,fuzzy expressions and expressions with Chinese characteristics.The frequency of long and complicated sentences and sentences with the “de(?)”structure are two main problems at the syntactic level.The author puts forward the solutions under the guidance of the two principles of accuracy and equivalence,consistency and identity.Dictionaries,higher-level law corpus and online corpus can be referred to for the terminology of social services;Lexical equivalence translation method can be adopted for fuzzy expressions;the translation of politics-related organizations of expressions with Chinese characteristics could refer to official authoritative expressions,and literal translation can be used for four-character structures;Long and complicated sentences are translated by sentence component analysis,rearranging and integrating;Sentences with the “de(?)” structure can be transformed into conditional adverbial clauses or logical subjects.This report summarizes the translation methods and aims to provide suggestions that can be used for translation of local rules and regulations,with a view to promoting the study of translation of local rules and regulations.
