| This report is based on the translation of sections 19-21 of the handbook The Routledge Handbook of Second Language Acquisition and Pragmatics, edited by Naoko Taguchi and published by Routledge in 2019.This book has conducted a comprehensive and critical survey of second language(L2)pragmatics.It gives a comprehensive introduction to the core discipline of applied linguistics,L2 acquisition, and summarizes the basic principles and new directions of each topic based on 32 research reports from all over the world. While doing translation,I find two major difficulties: one is the linguistic terminologies, and the other one is English complex sentences, which consist of the main clause, one or more subordinate clauses, participles and or other parenthetical structures. As for the terminologies,I decide their translations mainly by consulting articles on CNKI,dictionaries, and my supervisor and course instructors. In this report,I mainly discuss the translation of English complex sentences from the perspective of Constructivist Translatology.Constructivist Translatology regards the translation text as the result of the reconstruction of the source text by the readers, including translators.Considering the research object of this report,I start with the sentence structure, deconstruct and reconstruct the complex sentences in the source text. The theory points out that translation text must conform to directionality of the original, that is,to keep the original features of the source text. The translation material in this report belongs to informative text,so when reconstructing the sentences, its concise and accurate features should be maintained.Meanwhile, the theory believes that translation should have the rationality of comprehension and the general validity of interpretation, advocating that translation can be measured with life experience in order to make it accepted by the public.Based on the above,I use four translation skills,pre-embedding,inversion,division,and change of voice to reconstruct the sentences and the translation text combining the factors such as culture, language habit and life experience of Chinese etc. |
