The Present Situation Investigation Of Urban Empty Nesters' Spiritual Needs

With the rapid development of aging and urbanization in China,the scale of population migration and movement is increasing,the family structure is growing core and the elderly endowment concept is changing,more and more empty nesters appear in urban communities.Because of the lack of life care and spiritual companion from their children,parts of the urban empty nesters have a series of psychological problems and diseases,which have affected their quality of spiritual life seriously in old age.Under the background of economic level enhances unceasingly and the material life of urban empty nesters get accordingly to ensure,how to meet their spiritual needs has caused wide concern of the community.The paper from the perspective of the spiritual needs of the urban empty nesters,the main line of Questionnaire survey supplemented by a combination of specific cases,individual interviews,literature review and the use of relevant information online.It bases on previous literatures which lays the theoretical foundation for the study and has carried on the detailed interpretation about the spiritual need.Divide the spiritual need into five levels:emotional need,interpersonal need,education need,entertainment need and self-actualization need.Marx's theory of population mobility and migration,family life cycle theory,relative deprivation theory and Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory as the theoretical support and the empty nesters from He-ping District in Shenyang as the research object,it has quantitative analysis and qualitative research about current situation of the spiritual needs of urban empty nesters from the basic situation,the degree of satisfaction and related factors.On the basis of-empirical study,the paper summarizes up the relevant characteristics of urban empty nesters'spiritual needs which mainly include that they eager to have family comfort coming from children and spouse,their spiritual need are strong in needs and rich in content and high in level,medias play an important role in their spiritual need,the health status becomes the important factor to their spiritual need,communication is the main needs in their spirit.It puts forward opinions and suggestions which could improve the satisfaction of urban empty nesters'spiritual need from the elderly self-adjustment,family and children spirit comfort,community support and government security.The purposes of opinions and suggestions is to enrich urban empty nesters'spiritual life and to improve the quality of life for old.
