Exploiting The Ecological Dimension Of Marx's Theory

The concept of ecological Marxism was first proposed by Ben Aggel,a professor at the university of Waterloo.He advocated linking the ecological crisis of capitalism with Marxist theory and trying to open up the ecological dimension of Marxist theory.His "ecological Marxism" is of great significance for promoting the combination of Marxist theory with contemporary social reality,improving the ability of Marxist theory to solve current social problems,and expanding the application scope of Marxist theory.This paper tries to analyze Aggel's ecological thought deeply according to the basic viewpoint and method of Marxism,and discuss the cause and solution of contemporary capitalist ecological crisis.The emphasis of his discussion lies in the theoretical origin,basic viewpoint,contribution to history,limitations of the theory itself and the enlightenment to the current ecological construction of our country of Aggel's ecological Marxism thought.In addition to the Introduction and conclusion,this paper mainly discusses from three aspects:The first part mainly discusses the background and theoretical relationship of Aggel's ecological Marxism,and analyzes the formation process of his thoughts from two aspects of social development background and theoretical evolution background.One is from the status quo of the deepening of the capitalist crisis,the development of the green movement in capitalist countries,as well as the development of ecology,system theory,futurology and other aspects to discuss the formation of Aggel's ecological Marxist thought of social and historical background.The second is to explain the relationship between Aggel's ecological Marxism thought and theory,including the influence of Marxism theory on Aggel and Aggel's inheritance and interpretation of Frankfurt school.The second part mainly discusses the basic content of Aggel's ecological Marxism.In the capitalist society,the alienation between human and nature is becoming more and more serious.it is because of the alienation that human needs and consumption are separated.excessive consumption will produce waste of resources and lead to environmental damage.Therefore,in the capitalist society,the progress of ecology requires the dual liberation of man and nature.Aggel believes that in order to realize the ideal society that eliminates the alienation between man and nature,we must completely change from the political,economic,technological,happiness and satisfaction levels,and build a better blueprint for the future society.Aggel tried to seek the possibility of realizing the liberation of man and nature in capitalist society from the dialectics of disillusionment and various inevitable social crises existing in the fundamental contradictions of capitalist society.Based on the analysis of the way to realize the liberation of man and nature in Aggel's theory,this paper draws a conclusion that Aggel thinks that the combination of traditional Marxism and American populism is the basic point of view to liberate man and nature.The third part first focuses on the rationality and limitations of Aggel's theory to analyze its ecological Marxism.The positive aspect of Aggel's theory is that he always adheres to the theory of Marxism keeping pace with the times,chooses the healthy life style of combining man with nature,and analyzes the gain and loss of theory through the process of social history.Aggel's theory also has obvious shortcomings,mainly in his theory there are unrealistic utopian ingredients,contrary to the basic requirements of historical materialism,lead to Aggel received utopia and populism in some of the views of the deep influence.The next focuses on the enlightenment of Aggel's ecological Marxism on the construction of ecological civilization in contemporary China.The goal of China's economic and social development is to build a socialist society with Chinese characteristics,we must implement Marx's thought on the free development of human beings,that is,"everyone's free development is the condition of all people's free development".In order to build a harmonious and all-round free development of the socialist society between man and nature,we must overcome the alienation relationship between man and nature,which is dominated by the proliferation and expansion of capital in the capitalist society,and eliminate the alienation of human nature from the change of labor alienation.This determines the social development context of our country is under the guidance of the scientific concept of development to achieve the sustainable development of man and nature,advocate under the guidance of the correct concept of happiness and ecological view of healthy lifestyle,to create a harmonious society to eliminate the alienation between man and man,between man and nature.
