Diplomatic transformation is the country's highest form of foreign policy change, and it is a country's behavior to change the general model of external relations within the global system.Generally, whether or not a country has undergone a diplomatic transformation can be judged by whether it is necessary to redefine the national identity, whether it covers the synchronic changes in multiple fields, and whether it changes the relationship with the core power in the international system. It can be said that the change of the objective environment is the main factor affecting the transition of diplomacy, but this article believes that the transition of diplomacy is also influenced by the leaders' cognition.Cognition is an important factor for leaders to influence the country's external goals and behaviors. The diplomatic transformation of a country must be accompanied by the adjustment of leaders' cognition.Since the founding of New China,China's diplomacy has undergone two transformations. The first transformation took place in the 1950 s,from humiliation diplomacy to revolutionary diplomacy aimed at winning national sovereignty independence and dignity on the world stage. The second transformation took place in the eighties of the 20 th century, from revolutionary diplomacy to omni-directional integration into the world system, which aims to win a good international environment and surrounding environment for China's modernization. The first diplomatic transformation in China is closely related to Mao Zedong's understanding of the environment at home and abroad.China's second diplomatic transformation took place in the 1980 s,and its motivation came mainly from the cognitive adjustment of Deng Xiaoping on Mao Zedong's related international situation,Sino-U.S.relations,independence principles and so on.
