| Civil voluntary service organization plays an increasingly important role in China voluntary service development,but lack of funds has a negative impact on its sustainable development.So,it is significant for civil voluntary service organization to study its self-support though innovation.Based on this,after understanding the practice of Hubei Y Association,one of civil voluntary service organizations,self-support with semi-structured interview and participatory observation,the author studies and analyses its self-support practices form the perspective of social capital theory,namely,supporting farmers to harvest agricultural products in ecological planting and breeding base,purchasing agricultural products from farmers for sale and using the funds obtained for volunteer services to serve other groups to achieve self-support goals.According to studies,this self-support ability is a result of the full mobilization internal and external social capital.In its internal capital,the association owns better horizontal and vertical network,members’ high recognition of organization culture and leaders with excellent abilities,which promotes members’ cohesion and lays a solid foundation for the self-support.In its external capital,the association provides land resources for poverty-stricken people,funds by group volunteers,technical support from agricultural experts,farmers’ resources linked by government departments,media coverage and social policies,which provides a strong guarantee for its self-support.This self-support model is known for innovative funds method,cross-domain cooperation and strong mental support by voluntary culture.In addition,there are many obvious advantages,such as,turning poverty-stricken people into resources creators,aggregating multi-resources,sustainable fundraising and balancing social and economic benefits,etc.In conclusion,other civil voluntary service organizations can learn some experience form Y association,namely,innovating self-support carriers,changing financing management ways,testing internal social capital,improving members’cohesion,expanding external social capital,enhancing the healthy development of network,promoting volunteer culture and create a favorable cultural atmosphere. |
