The Young Pioneers of China is a youth organization of children in the People's Republic of China.With the purpose of educating children and young people,it functions to build Socialism with Chinese characteristics and Communism.Knowledgeable and upright guidance counselors with progressive minds and loving characters as well as advanced figures from all fronts are selected by the Communist Youth League for the organization.By making close friends with and serving as mentors for the young,they are not only an important part of the ideological and moral education for teenagers in our country,but also an innovative force for the implementation of quality education and citizenship education.Young Pioneers Squadron Counselors are the most urgently needed group to enhance their competency.Training their competency will help strengthen ties with the Communist Party of China and the Communist Youth League,cultivate talents for the lofty cause of the rejuvenation of the country.To a certain extent,it will also lead to an increase in the specialization of counselors.In this study,literature reviews,questionnaires and interviews are used to explore the three dimensions of the competence of the Young Pioneers squadron counselors: ideological and political accomplishment,professional knowledge,and comprehensive ability.Second-level indicators include political literacy,ideological guidance,emotional attitudes,knowledge about the Young Pioneers,research ability,work responsibility,organization,coordination,communication,management,and innovation.This dissertation objectively and truly reveals the status quo of the competency of counselors in their work.The problems are found out and the reasons are analyzed,such as: lack of independent learning consciousness leads to insufficient political theory literacy of counselors;confuse responsibilities with other practices;their capacity to research and innovate needs to be improved;there is no systematic and professional school-based training for them;there is no reasonable and scientific incentive mechanism and only a small proportion of counselors can be rewarded.In the end,the competency training strategy is explored.Firstly,they need to start from themselves and be self-motivated.This requires them to change understanding and establish a lifelong learning consciousness;their role needs to be accurately positioned and the responsibilities of the class needs to be clarified.They should pay attention to scientific research and organize practical activities in a creative way;put children first and keep in touch with young children.Secondly,outer support is needed to provide guarantees for training instructors' competency by establishing a sound and systematic system;increase their social status and develop their professional identity;promote their career development through a better mechanism.Based on the work experience of the Young Pioneers' instructors,This thesis explores the training strategy of their competency,helps them reflect,learn,and lay a foundation for future development.It is conducive to the transformation of the counselors' way of thinking,the reform of their work methods and the enhancement of their work performance so that they can shoulder the responsibility of cultivating young people for the great national rejuvenation in a new ear and contribute their own strengths for the realization of “Chinese Dream”.
