Abstract/Summary:
The Young Pioneers is an important basic education method in China. The Young Pioneers Counselor is an important force of the Young Pioneers, and is also a team with highly professional characteristics in the Chinese faculty.During the more than half a century since the founding of New China, great changes have taken place in our society.Especially in the last 40 years,Chinese society has undergone a transitional period and profound changes have taken place in the social structure. All these have challenged the work of the Young Pioneers. Therefore, studying the identity status of this team has important historical and practical significance for improving the quality of Young Pioneers education.Based on the above reasons, this study adopts the perspective of historical sociology and focuses on exploring the identity and its vicissitudes of the counselors of the three generations of Young Pioneers in China since the founding of New China. This study uses the " History Life Research" as the main research method and the interview method and literature research as the specific research method. After referring to the historical process of the development of the Young Pioneers in Shanghai, the institutional changes in China, and the promulgation of major policies in the education sector, the study ultimately selected nine young pioneers counselors who entered the Young Pioneers field in three time periods as the study object. It was the early period of the founding of New China(1949-1978),the period of reform and opening up(1979-2000)and the new century(2001-present).There are six chapters in this thesis. The logical sequence is "putting out research questions-forming analytical ideas and research methods-researching problems-drawing research conclusions".The first chapter is the introduction. The main content is the research origin, research problems, research hypotheses, analysis framework and so on.The analytical framework of Young Pioneers counselors’ identity includes identity cognition, identity emotion and identity practice. This framework has always been discussed throughout the dissertation. The second chapter is the research design. The main content is the research method and the research process. The third to fifth chapters are the main part of the thesis. The explanation logic is from the concrete tothe general.Through identity memory(growth experience before the identity of the counselor),identification of the beginning of the identity(how to obtain and accept the identity of the counselor and the motivation),identity development(development process after accepting the identity)and identity expectations(future planning and imagination of the identity)to present the life history of each generation of Young pioneers counselors.A code analysis was performed on the characteristics of the identity of each generation of Young Pioneers counselors, and on this basis, the main process of identity of the Young Pioneers counselors in each generation was analyzed. On the basis of the foregoing, the sixth chapter first compares the identification of counselors between generations, and then explores the vicissitudes and reasons for the identity of the three generations of counselors. Finally, the author thinks about the possible path of strengthening the identity of contemporary counselors. The study found that: Firstly, the identity of the three generations of counselors presents typical characteristics of the times, and their identification orientations are“organizational attachment”,“professional development” and “self-realization”.Specifically,they are expressed in the following aspects:(1)In terms of identity recognition, the first-generation counselors think that the counselor is assigned by party organizations to lead the young pioneers. Its core identity is the organizational status. Therefore, the counselor must have a clear political identity and position. The basic task of the Young Pioneers is to train the successors of the party and socialist construction. The second-generation counselors think that the counselor is an educator engaged in the party’s education for children. The counselor is a profession worthy of individual investment and commitment. The ultimate goal of the Young Pioneers is to cultivate people with all-round development. The third-generation counselors also think that the counselor is a profession. Its essential identity is an educator firstly, and then is the close friends and mentors of the young pioneers. The primary goal of the Young Pioneers is to promote the growth of life for every young pioneer. They do not pay much attention to the political identity of the counselor.More consideration is given to the educational and professional value of this identity.(2)In terms of identity emotion, the first generation of counselors show a strong emotional identity basis,a positive emotional experience, and an emotional commitment based on organizationalinterests and development. The second generation of counselors have a relatively weak emotional foundation and a positive emotional experience.Their emotional commitments are mainly based on professional responsibilities but ultimately point to the development of the Young Pioneers. The emotional foundation of the third generation counselors is weaker than the previous two generations, and the emotional experience is more complex and entangled.Their emotional commitments mainly focus on the improvement of self-ability and the completion of work tasks, and less on their responsibility for the development of Young Pioneers.(3)In terms of identity practice, the three generations of counselors pay more and more attention to education and children in specific work. The political nature of the Young Pioneers has been hidden gradually, and at the same time, more emphasis has been placed on the autonomy and rationality of their work.Secondly, researcher believes that the social transformation, the change in public expectations, and the conflict between identity needs and reality are the main reasons for identity vicissitudes. Finally,on the possible path of strengthening the identity of the contemporary Young Pioneers counselors, the study believes that it is necessary to enhance the self-development abilities of counselors, clarify the identity of counselors, and increase the channels for the professional study and theoretical promotion of counselors.
