Research On Competency Of Young Pioneers Counselors

Childhood is a critical period in the development of human beings,and it is also the key period to lay a good foundation for education.The children receive moral education mainly through the Young Pioneers,the work of Young Pioneers goes well need the special group of teachers--the Young Pioneers' counselors.The Young Pioneers' counselors need to responsible for all the young pioneers' work,and the competency of knowledge and ability are different from general teachers'.There are many researches about general teachers' competency,but few studies refer to Young Pioneers' counselors.Therefore,the purpose of this study is to clear the competency characteristics of Young Pioneers' counselors and the factors that influence competency,and put forward strategies to cultivate and promote Young Pioneers counselors' competency.The first chapter intrduces the background,research value and the current researches related to the Young Pioneers' counselors.The second chapter through analyzes the competency of general teachers to define the connotation,career orientation and characteristics,and according to analyze the open questionnaire data of the Young Pioneers counselors' competency to construct the theoretical model of the Young Pioneers counselors' competency.The third chapter is to conduct “Young Pioneers Counselors' Competency Quenstionnaire” according to the theoretical model,this study select 348 Young Pioneers counselors from Yunnan province to investigate,and then use the exploratory factor analysis to examine the rationality of the theoretical model and the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.The results show that the Young Pioneers counselors' competency consists of counseling work attitude,personal qualities,the knowledge of young pioneers,counseling management ability,political quality,scientific research ability and the artistic talent.The scores of the competency of the counselors who participated in the survey were from high to low: counseling work attitude,political quality,counseling management ability,personal qualities,the knowledge of Young Pioneers,artistic talent,scientific research ability,and the greatest difference among individuals was in artistic talent.The fourth chapter analyzes data of the questionnaire's difference and correlation,in order to explore the characteristics of the Young Pioneers counselors' competency in demographic variables,and the relation between the general self-efficacy and the Young Pioneers counselors' competency.The results shows that the overall level of Young Pioneers counselors who participated the survey is in the middle level.Variables in gender,educational bacground,wheather win award in the Young Pioneers' work,age,the location of the school,teaching time have significant effects on one or more dimensions of Young Pioneers counselors' competency.The Young Pioneers counselors who have college or below degree can master professional knowledge of the Young Pioneers better than the counselors who have bachelor or above degree;and the scores of counselors' political quality who have bachelor or above degree are significantly higher than counselors who have college or below degree.The counselors' scores in overall competency and seven types of competency who have won award in the work of Young Pioneers were significantly higher than those counselors who have never won award in work.;and the counselors those have higher general self-efficacy have better competency.The fifth chapter put forward strategies according to the results of questionnaire and interview,mainly focus on aspects such as cultivate scientific research ability and artistic talents and strengthen the general self-efficacy.
