Social Network And Migrant Workers' Marriage Choice

Marriage has always been the focus of social attention.Since reform and opening up policy,a large number of farmers go to cities for work,their habits,viewpoints of marriage,social network has been changed,and in the process of the transition,their choice about marriage has also been changed.Through to the literature review,based on social network theory and life cycle theory,and using qualitative research method,including depth interview and participant observation to analyse cases,hope with the change process of cases' marriage choice,discuss the subject that interactional relationship between marital status and social network.Tries to reveal the blood relationship,geographical and occupational and net relations' effect in different stages of marriage.At the same time,under the different marriage choice,it will form the different social networks.Through the study found that migrant workers' social network is still based on kinship and geographical as the main body,industry margin and net margin of networks will gradually contract in the process of unmarried to marriage.In the process of first marriage to divorce,it is gradually spread,and in the process of divorce to remarry,women migrant workers value the strong relationship between kinship networks and geographical network by rational choice.And male migrant workers value occupational and net relations by feeling,.Early marriage of young migrant workers is the result of different network's combined effect.The male migrant workers' parents are partners in early marriage incident because of wedding cost,and the female migrant workers' parents are belong to the conflict as double loss in the "face" and "benefits from daughters".In marriage plight of the migrant workers,long distance is an important factor of marriage crisis,when the woman files for divorce,the woman's parents' dissuading can effectively reduce the generation of divorce,when the man files for divorce,kinship network's effect decreased significantly.At the same time,about the remarriage choice,women migrantworkers hope get more support from blood relationship network,so they seek spouses from geographical network,and male migrant workers care more about emotional experience,they will seek mates from occupational and net relations who has outstanding appearance.Based on the analysis of interaction between migrant workers' marriage choices and network nodes,find that compared with traditional marriage match mainly from the blood and geopolitical network,modern marriage mainly match from occupational and net relations.Under the change of network structure,it is essentially reflect the subjectivity of highlights,namely their marriage choice pay more attention to the feelings about themselves.As the traditional constraints become weak gradually and individuality continuously developed,it can bring some social risk,like rising divorce rate and single-parent families increasing.
