Northeast India has been a relatively tense region in the country, where separatist groups have been rife with tensions since independence. After India's independence, the Indian government realized the importance of the stability of the northeast to India and governed the region. In the early days after the founding of the People's Republic of China,it pursued the policy of " Nehru-Elwin Policy Framework " and managed the northeast region on the basis of protecting its diversity. After the conflict, the Indian government realized the importance of security in the northeast,so after Nehru's death,it abandoned its policy and replaced it with the strategy of "security first".In 1971,the northeast India reorganization act was enacted, which started the northeast political restructuring process.Only in 1991,after the implementation of the "eastward policy",did the economic development of India's northeast really receive attention. There are many factors that cause the separatist movement in northeast India to remain alive and well after decades. The influx of immigrants into the northeast region creates opportunities for local people to find jobs.India has seen that in the past decades, the northeast region has low GDP,backward economy and low education level of its people. The region cannot share the dividend brought by India's development. The fact that the separatist group relies on foreign aid, extortion, arms and drug trade for the economic support it needs to grow and thrive is a factor in the separatist group's own network of organizational resources.Aware of the importance of stability in northeast China, the Indian government has successively conducted governance in northeast China and put forward governance strategies, which can be mainly divided into economic development strategy and political strategy. In the strategy of economic development,it mainly includes the balanced development of northeast industrial structure and the acceleration of northeast urbanization.Political strategies mainly include political means, ethnic and linguistic means and other means of northeast governance. After analyzing the reasons for the emergence of separatism in the northeast of India and the government's governance strategies, and combining the actual situation under the policy of "eastward movement",this paper predicted the trend of separatism in the northeast of India, and believed that the intensity of the separatism movement in India would be lower and lower, and the situation of separatism would be gradually improved.
