Comparative Study Of Public Diplomacy Between China And India

Both China and India are developing countries with brilliant culture and large population resources.The development of public diplomacy in both countries has great potential.The comparative study of China-India public diplomacy can provide experience and inspiration for the development of China's public diplomacy,understand India's public foreign policy and promote the development of China-India relations.This article compares the two countries' public diplomacy theoretically and practically.In theory,the public diplomacy goals of both countries focus on the shaping of national image,attaching importance to the development and utilization of cultural resources;public diplomacy activities are more strategic.Both countries have established special public diplomacy institutions,China's public diplomacy system is more perfect,India's public diplomacy pays more attention to the participation of social forces.In practice,the cultural exchange activities held in China are large-scale and have more investment,and the utilization of Indian cultural resources is more flexible.China has formed a pattern of all-round,multi-level and focused public diplomacy.India's cultural and propaganda departments are decentralized and have not formed a joint force.There is a lack of regulatory institution for cultural exchanges and external propaganda in the establishment of institutions.China's practice of public diplomacy is better than India's.The relevant experience of public diplomacy in India is of reference significance.India uses overseas expatriates to disseminate religion and culture,and uses cultural products to disseminate Indian culture,showing its flexibility in the use of cultural resources;intensifies foreign aid and actively participates in international affairs;regards the domestic public as the target of public diplomacy;and strengthens the use of social networking media.China should constantly promote the reform of the public diplomacy system,learn from the advantages of India's public diplomacy,improve the practice of public diplomacy in China,adopt various forms to enhance the effectiveness of public diplomacy and optimize the national image.This article mainly uses the comparative study method,the historical researchmethod and the literature research method to compare the Chinese and Indian public diplomacy;The first part: Public diplomacy related theoretical knowledge.The second part:the comparison between China and India's public diplomacy at the theoretical level and the practical level.The third part: summarizes the experience of India's public diplomacy,and provides inspiration and suggestions for improving China's public diplomacy.
