Moral Education In The Yan'an Period And Its Contemporary Enlightenment

Strengthening moral education is the deed for improving the moral quality of citizens,promoting the moral construction of socialism in the new era,and building a cultural power for China.The Yan'an period was a glorious period in the history of the Communist Party of China.It was a period in which moral education gradually matured.During this period,the party attached great importance to moral education and used high moral standards and moral principles to cultivate people,forming a civilized social trend,thus fruitful theoretical results were produced to guide practice.Therefore,summarizing the successful experience of moral education in this period has important significance for enhancing the effect of moral education in the new era.During the Yan'an period,the Communist Party of China conducted active theoretical explorations on the basic principles,specific contents,and educational methods of moral education.Also they proposed that moral education should adhere to the principle of communist directionality,the principle of combining moral education with laws and regulations and the principle of combining material encouragement with spiritual encouragement.In addition,they discussed the content of moral education with revolutionary morality,serving the people,patriotism,collectivism,ideals and beliefs as the core of traditional Chinese virtue.Besides,they clearly strengthened the quality of educators and inspired education and encouraged educators' morally consciousness.Furthermore,they explored a variety of targeted and regular moral education methods,such as typical education,literary and artistic virtues,criticism and self-criticism,knowing and doing,which formed a more theoretical system of moral education.The Party combined the theory and practice of moral education,paid attention to the unity of knowing and doing,and carried out in-depth practice in strengthening social morality,cultivated professional ethics,promoted family virtues,and improved personal morality.Therefore,good results were obtained,making Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Border Region become the most civilized place in the country.Moral education in the new era should learn from and absorb the historical experience of the Yan'an period,taking the Marxist morality as the guide to establish a noble moral concept and grasp the principle of collectivism,seek “ the greatest common denominator” of morality;persist in serving the people and pass on the morality positive energy of goodness;play the leading role;cultivate good morality;inspire the self-consciousness of educational objects;enhance self-cultivation of educational objects;establish moral standards and exert the power of example;advance with the times and strive to transform Chinese tradition and develop virtues,the unity of knowing and doing and tempering moral character in practice.
