The “13th Five-Year Plan for Promoting the Development of Ethnic Areas and Small Populations” encourages and supports qualified villages and towns to declare national A-level tourist scenic spots and national famous scenic tourist towns and famous villages, and create a number of influential characteristics in the country.Village and town tourism brands. There are more than 20 ethnic groups such as Han,Miao,Tujia and Yao in the Yuanshui River Basin in western Hunan, which is a concentrated area of ethnic minorities. There are more than 30 existing ancient towns, and most of them are well preserved. These ancient towns have a long history and culture, and the national culture is beautiful and has important historical and cultural values. The ancient town of Pushii in the Yuanshui River Basin in western Hunan is an ancient town that is flourishing due to water. However, with the development of modern highway traffic,it has gradually declined, and the structure of the ancient town has changed. Now under the leadership of the tourism economy, ancient towns have become a precious cultural carrier in the region. This paper uses the research methods such as participation observation method and interview method in the field investigation site of Pushi Town,Luxi County,Xiangxi Prefecture.First of all,the development of the town of Pu Li was developed from the commercial and trade town of the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the industrial center of the Yuanshui River Basin after the founding of New China.Secondly,it analyzes the development history and current situation of Pushi Town.Furthermore, the current development analyzes the representation of the post-industrial society in Pushi Town from the perspective of the importance of theoretical knowledge and the transformation of industrial structure. Finally, analyze the reasons for these characterizations. We divide the development of Pushi Town into three stages. The first stage is the pre-industrial society.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Pushi Town developed into an ancient commercial and trade town in the western Hunan region by virtue of water transport and became an important material distribution center in the Yuanshui River Basin. The second stage is the industrialization period after the founding of New China. With the development of highways, water transport has gradually lost its status as a favorite, and the water transport terminal has gradually declined. In this period,Pushi was mainly based on industrial development, and Pushi Town built a series of factories relying on local mineral resources. The third stage is from the beginning of the 21 st century. The development of ethnic cultural industries such as ethnic tourism and tourism commodities in Pushi Town has formed an economic structure with tourism as the core industry. In this transformation and development, the industrial structure of Pushi Town has undergone tremendous changes. This change is mainly reflected in the following aspects: First, people began to pay attention to the importance of knowledge. The planning of Pushi Town is completed under the guidance of science.Local people use their local cultural knowledge to participate in the development of tourism, and the role of cultural creativity is prominent.Second, the industrial structure has changed. The output value of the tertiary industry in Pushi Town has increased year by year, and the number of people engaged in the tourism service industry is increasing.Third, the occupational distribution has changed and the status of women has improved.Tourism development provides opportunities for women in Pushi Township, and more and more emphasis on self-worth.These characterizations in the transformation of Pushi Town are similar to those of Bell's post-industrial society. Therefore, the industrial society theory is the guide and the analysis of the transformation of Pushi Town is deeply analyzed. There are three reasons for the transformation of Pushi Town: First, the orientation of national policies.Under the background of the national macro policy,Pushi Town has set a scientific and appropriate development plan based on its own reality and achieved good results in the protection of ancient towns and tourism development.Second, local elites have become the driving force for local development. The local elites in Pushi Town used their local knowledge to contribute to the development of tourism, and tapped the local culture into a book to become a local “cultural watcher”.Third, the participation of scientific research institutions such as universities has played a key role.Universities are the birthplace of theoretical knowledge. They not only play an important role in publicity, promotion, and excavation, but also cultivate a large number of talents and serve as a treasure trove of government consultants.Through the in-depth analysis of this case in Pushi Town,it can provide reference for the development of ancient ethnic minority towns in the south. The development path of post-industrial society is a new development model for small towns in the south like Pushi Town.
