A Study On The Spiritual Support Of The Left-behind Elderly In The Rural Areas Under The Perspective Of Harmonious Society

To build a harmonious society in an all-round way requires us to attach importance to the western rural left-behind elderly spiritual support problem,and solve the problem of the western rural left-behind elderly spiritual support is the important embodiment of social harmony.Spiritual support is not only related to the elderly health and the improvement of their well-being,but also plays an important role in maintaining social intergener-ational relations.Therefore,it is of great significance to actively solve the problem about spiritual support of the elderly in western rural areas.Although the western development strategy and targeted poverty alleviation policy has made great achievement in promoting economic development----social construction steps forward steadily,people’s living standards improves significantly,the consumption structure of rural residents gradually transforms from subsistence-based food and clothing consumption to the consumption of enjoyment and development,problems of the left-behind elderly spiritual support has an important impact on the elderly to improve the living standards.Therefore,the study of the spiritual support of the elderly in the western countryside is extremely urgent.In the rural areas of Ningxia,especially in the southern mountainous areas,as a result of the economic development,there have been a large number of “hollow villages”.Because of children’ going-out,family support has been weakened,and because the social security system is not perfect and land security function is being degraded,which brings out lack of spiritual support of the elderly and directly affects the harmonious development of society.Attaching importance to resolving the problem of spiritual support for the elderly in rural areas and to enhancing their living standards is an important manifestation in building a harmonious society.Based on the theory of socialist harmonious society,this paper expounds the theoretical basis of the spiritual support of the elderly in the rural areas of western China and uses the method of nonstructural interview and literature research to synthetically analyze the spiritual support of the rural elderly in Ningxia.Through in-depth interviewing with the elderly in Fengling Township,Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,this paper objectively records old people’s differences in material support,emotional experience,social participation,mentality and entertainment before and after their children leave home.It also analyzes the existing problems about left-behind elderly spiritual support,and explores the reasons and puts forward relevant solutions.Through interviews and related statistical analysis,it is found that,with the development of social economy,the quality of life of rural elderly in Ningxia has been changed greatly,but the family and the land still plays main roles in providing for the aged.The main sources of life are the income of their own labor and the support of their children;material support is still relatively poor.working distance,economic conditions and other factors affect the children’s emotional support for the elderly and weakness of the old man’s health makes them have mental pressure.the high degree of participation in productive societies and the low participation of the collective society,facing the active or passive marginalization in the social participation.Due to less leisure time,age discrimination from people around the elderly and the lack of cultural facilities construction,their recreation is monotonous.To jointly cope with the western rural left-behind elderly spiritual support,the government should improve the relevant system to provide material and institutional guarantee for the left-behind elderly,and promote the rural public culture construction by playing the role of villagers’ autonomous organization.They also should maintain harmonious family relations through the construction of moral civilization.
