Research On The Application Of Narrative Therapy In Individual Case Service For Elderly People Living Alone

As China is stepping into an aged society,the aging population has brought about more and more types of problems,which means that the practice of gerontological social work is facing increasingly difficult challenges in China.This requires the social workers to introduce new theoretical models depending on the actual situation while localizing social work.As a new method of social work practice,the narrative therapy provides new ideas for the application of social work in the context of localization.The elderly living alone has become a part of the service targets in the practice of gerontological social work.Compared with the traditional psychotherapy,the narrative therapy gets rid of the latter's limitation of only emphasizing "problems" but ignoring the "subject of the case".It advocates separating the subject's problems from the subject himself or herself,externalizing the problem,replacing the previous problem narration by reconstructing a new narration and finally solving the subject's problems by storytelling.With an elderly living alone in H District of C City as the object of research,this paper explores the situation and needs of the subject through interviews and questionnaires.It is found that the elderly living alone faces difficulties such as low self-efficacy.On this basis,the narrative therapy theory is used to intervene in the psychological problems of the elderly living alone,thereby gradually alleviating the psychological problems of the elderly living alone,and enhancing the subject's psychological adjustment ability by reconstructing the social support network of the subject.This paper first introduces the significance and objective of the research,and defines the related concepts.Then it reviews the relevant research literature at home and abroad,describes in detail the application method of the narrative therapy and its concrete application in the practice of gerontological social work,and summarizes the final achievements and limitations in its actual application,thereby providing a reference for the future research on the application of narrative therapy in related fields.
