Growth Group Involved In The Unemployed Women's Capacity Building

Women's unemployment has been paid more and more attention by the All-China Women's Federation and the society in recent years.Emphasizing the improvement of the ability of unemployed women is an important part of women's work.Since the reform and opening up,women's work which is particular for women and children has been carried out under the unified organization of the All-China Women's Federation by top-down management.Under the policy guidance,the Women's Federations at all levels began to actively respond to the call for reform of the Party Central Committee to carry out group organization reform.creating women's homes in the community,and taking women's homes as the front to carry out women's work.Due to the aggravation of women's unemployment,the government has attached great importance to social work which has been developed rapidly.Not only does the concept of social work has made up for the parts which cannot be effectively covered by the Women's Federation,but also meet the needs required in the new era.The Women's Federations at all levels began to work together with social organizations.Using social work has become an important way for women's federations to reduce women's unemployment rate in communities.Hongshan District Women's Federation actively responded to the reform of the group organization and carries out various services for women and children at the community-level “Women's Home”.The Women's Home at F community is the first women's home created in Hongshan District and one of the typical and representative organizations of Wuhan Women's Federation.Therefore,it has certain academic values and practical significance to take the F community as the place of departure and use the social work model of the growth group to carry out the intervention services provided by social workers.In the process of intervention,this paper takes the delete needs of community women as the guide,and uses the professional method-“growth group”pattern of social work and empowerment theory to enhance the ability of all aspects of unemployed women.It intervenes in the community works as well as assignments in the Women's Federation and summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of the work in the Women' s Federation to make up for the staff weakness.In addition,to reduceunemployment rate of women,it discusses how social work can be involved in the capacity building for unemployed women inthe community from the three dimensions-theWomen's Federation,Women's Homes in communities,and the social workers;these women mentioned above will accept training regarding capacity development in employment skills,psychological ability and comprehensive life ability.At the same time,the practice and promotion of professional methods of social work form the working experience of the Women's Federation and social organizations,and promote the development of social organizations,social work and the Women's Federations.This study mainly draws the following conclusions:1.Empowerment theory and social learning theory are effective guiding theories to promote the ability of community unemployed women.2.The method of growth group intervened in capacity building for unemployed women in the community met the needs of this population to some extend and achieved certain service effects3.It needs to improve the professional staffs at Women's homes and let professional social workers participate in the construction of women's home to support the long-term professional operation of women's home.
