With the deepening of the aging degree and the miniaturization of the family size in China,the number of families choosing institutions for the aged is gradually increasing,and the demand for care providers in the society is obviously increasing.However,care providers’ team presents the characteristics of old age,low educational background,low nursing skills and so on.The same is true of the care providers in the Y caring center in this study,so the center focuses on providing care skills such as cleaning,safety and other life care skills,but less on their communication skills.The active communication consciousness in the interaction between the center care Providers and the old man is low,the expression technique is deficient,the emotion management and the conflict resolution skills are insufficient-The communication skills of care providers are insufficient,which can not meet the psychological needs of communication between the elderly and people in time,affect the relationship between the care providers and the elderly,even affect the physical and mental health and the quality of life of the elderly,and make the care providers face the risk of losing their jobs.Therefore,this study provides service for care providers by carrying out group activities to explore the effectiveness of group work to improve the communication skills of nurses in private pension institutions.In the process of intervention,first,we use observation,interview and questionnaire to understand the situation of communication skills and communication frequency in the communication between care providers and the elderly in the Y caring center in Nanjing.After in-depth analysis,it is found that the reasons for the insufficient communication skills of the care providers include the self abasement of the caregivers,and the lack of professional knowledge.Less communication with the elderly topic,caring center management concept deviation,training content is not comprehensive.Secondly,according to the wishes of care providers,12 nurses in Nanjing Y Nursing Center were selected as the research objects,and they were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group.For the care providers of the experimental group,six group theme activities were conducted in three stages:discriminating communication skills,learning communication skills and consolidating communication skills.At the end of group activities in each stage,the changes of communication skills of providers in the experimental group were observed in time and questionnaire data were collected as evaluation data.In contrast,the control group did not take any intervention.Finally,after all the group activities,the communication skills of the care providers in the experimental group and the control group were measured by questionnaire,and the frequency of communication between the nurses and the elderly was collected by observation and interview.Comparison of the improvement of communication skills between the two groups of care providers.In terms of the results of the study,the communication skills of the care providers in the experimental group,such as active communication awareness,expression and listening skills,emotional management and conflict resolution,were significantly improved through rich group activities and discussion,sharing and communication among care providers.The frequency of daily communication with the elderly was obviously increased,and the awareness of seeking help from other care providers and staff members was obviously enhanced when they encountered difficulties,and their job confidence increased,while the care providers in the control group did not change significantly.Therefore,the group work can improve the communication skills of care providers in private ode-age care institutions. |
