How Does Trust Affect Residents' Sense Of Security Under The Risk Society Sight

The prominent problem in the background of risk society is that interpersonal trust and system trust are eroded,while interpersonal trust and system trust are significant factors that influence the residents' sense of security.Based on theoretical analysis of risk society and trust,trust and the sense of security,this paper uses CGSS2015 to carry out national survey data.In the statistical analysis of the current situation of interpersonal trust in China,confidence in the police as the system trust as well as residents' sense of security,this paper uses the structural equation model to study empirically the influence and mechanism of interpersonal trust,confidence in the police on residents' sense of security.It is found by the empirical research that interpersonal trust and confidence in the police both have a positive impact on the residents' sense of security.Interpersonal trust includes the trust in neighbors,distant neighbors,people with the same surname in the same village,people with different surnames in the same village and trust in relatives,which all have a positive influence on residents' sense of security.Confidence in the police includes the satisfaction degree on the government's crackdown on crime,the estimation of police's professional level of law,the evaluation of police's professional ethics,the level of handling social security in accordance with law,and the degree of difficulty at which police stations can handle affairs,which also have a positive impact on residents' sense of security.Confidence in the police has a complete mediation effect on the interpersonal trust and residents' sense of security.Therefore,in order to improve residents' sense of security,on the one hand,we need to focus on the construction of safety community and reshape of interpersonal trust;government need to cultivate social forces to build safety community;incentive mechanisms should be improved to encourage residents to participate in public affairs;communication platform need to be built to enhance community cohesion;it is important to create safety culture to enhance community identity;on the other hand,the harmonious relationship between police and people should be build and the trust should be enhanced,we need to strengthen the construction of community police office and lay emphasis on the prevention of crime;improve information technology capabilities,build and maintain a good network platform;break down the barrier between departments and let residents “run no more than once”;improve the methods of law execution in consideration of both legitimacy and rationality.In this way,the interpersonal trust and system trust can be enhanced,and the residents' sense of security can be improved then.
