Research On "China Threat Theory" In Kyrgyzstan

China and Kyrgyzstan have a common border of nearly 1,100 kilometers.The exchanges between the two countries have a long history and formed the cross-border homologous ethnic groups in historical changes.After "The Belt and Road" initiative was proposed,China's cooperation with Central Asian countries has become more frequent.However,opportunities are accompanied by worries and suspicions,and "China Threat Theory" is one of the most representative arguments.This article takes Kyrgyzstan,which is more prominent in “China Threat Theory” in society of the Central Asian region,as the research object.It collects and organizes historical materials related to China-Kyrgyzstan,official data on economic and trade exchanges between the two countries,and Kyrgyzstan's anti-China news materials.This article is based on social construction theory,perception and misperception theory.To conduct cross-cutting research,sort out the background and development stages of Kyrgyzstan's "China Threat Theory",and summarize the manifestations and characteristics.In the cause analysis,the focus is mainly on national interests,national culture,media communication,and cognitive psychology.And elaborated the countermeasures from three levels of state,society and individual.This article argues that "China threat theory" in Kyrgyzstan has a certain degree of negative impact on China's international image.If not handled properly,it may deepen the misunderstanding of the people of Kyrgyzstan about China and affect the normal exchanges between the two countries,and even become the resistance of cooperation between China and Central Asian countries."China Threat Theory" in Kyrgyzstan has gone through two stages: the border issues left over by history and the negative interpretation of "The Belt and Road".It is mainly reflected in three aspects: economic threats,political threats and population threats.Its overall characteristics are politicized economic behavior,diversified forms of expression and violent demonstrations and protests."China Threat Theory" of Kyrgyzstan is the result of a combination of factors.It mainly includes the asymmetry of the economic forces between China and Kyrgyzstan,the territorial disputes left over by history,the influence of western "China Threat Theory" ideological trend,the domestic political struggle and the rising nationalism sentiment in Kyrgyzstan,the stereotyped image reported by Kyrgyzstan's media,and the cognitive bias towards China.The recommendations of this article should safeguard national sovereignty and interests at the national level,accurately convey China's position and attitude,strengthen bilateral relations between China and Kyrgyzstan,pay attention to changes in Kyrgyzstan's current situation,play the role of SCO,and coordinate relations with neighboring countries.At the social level,it is necessary to raise the level of media coverage and reduce Kyrgyzstan's misperception of China.In Kyrgyzstan,the Chinese enterprises should undertake corporate social responsibility and maintain the overall image of enterprises abroad.At the individual level,it is essential to strengthen non-governmental exchanges,enhance the friendship between the people of the two countries,and the role of international students in both countries should be brought into play.
