Research On The Influence Of “America First”on The Maintenance Of American Hegemony

How to maintain the relative decline of American hegemony has become a common concern in the American strategic community.Trump's plan is“America first”.However,the“America First”with trump's personal color has challenged many traditional political norms in the United States over the past three years,changed the traditional strategic layout of the United States,had a great impact on the Hegemony of the United States,and overturned the inherent views of the academic circle of international relations on American politics.So does “ America First ” maintain or undermine American hegemony? Therefore,a comprehensive and objective explanation of the maintenance strategy and influence of “America First”on THE HEGEMONY of the United States is conducive to a better understanding of the current subtle changes in the hegemony of the United States and the changes in the international situation.At the same time,it also requires China to make certain strategic responses in the future great power competition.“ America First ” is internal governance concept and foreign diplomatic principle,type and to economic nationalism and exit the diplomatic way of zero-sum game,the“America First”is in essence a“principled realism”thought reform attempts,to a large extent changed the former trump political thinking,has changed the relative stability of the liberal international order.There are four main reasons for this change: the most immediate reason is the relative decline of American hegemony;Secondly,the internal problems of the Western world are emerging under the great changes unseen in the world for a century,while emerging countries are emerging collectively and the gap between the two sides is gradually being nibbled away.At the same time,the United States has prominent domestic contradictions,unable to get rid of the economic downturn and intensified immigration racial contradictions;Trump has personally played a key leading role in this issue,pushing his policy orders in a tough “political style”.From the perspective of fundamental purpose,“America First” is to maintain the hegemony of the United States,which is exactly in line with the grand goal of “Making America great again”in Trump's political blueprint.Therefore,with such a goal,the specific policies related to America First are implemented accordingly.However,through a comprehensive examination of the actual policy implementation results,it is found that “America First” seems to enable the United States to gain more national interests in a short period of time,enhance its national strength,and thus maintain its hegemony.However,in the long run,it will cause structural damage to American hegemony.It is not only difficult to maintain American hegemony effectively,but also aggravates the relative decline of Americanhegemony,weakens America's global leadership and soft power,and the large input of hegemony cost no longer means sufficient returns.Thus it can be seen that “America First”is not an effective and feasible option for maintaining American hegemony,but exacerbates the decline of American hegemony.The new situation created by such a conclusion also puts forward new requirements for China's foreign work,making it necessary to follow the trend and plan actively.We need to continue to lead global cooperation and assume the responsibilities of a major power.
