Research On The Economist's China Column (2016-2018)

Nowadays,international exchanges are increasingly frequent and close,and national image is very important.However,most of the international discourse power is in the hands of Western media.The reports of demonizing China and the theory of China threat have a negative impact on China's national image.Therefore,the main goal of this study is to understand the image of China created by Western media and the reasons behind it.The reason for choosing the economist is that it has a long history,unique reporting style and a wide range of reporting fields,and opened a Chinese column in 2012.The opening of China column is enough to reflect the economist's attention to China's development.This paper takes all324 articles in the Chinese column of the economist from 2016 to 2018 as the research object,analyzes the content and text according to the four categories of politics,economy,society and culture,and probes into the tendency and attitude of Chinese reports.This paper presents the economist's attention to China's problems,analyzes the characteristics and causes of the economist's image building in China.
