Since Central Asia connects Asian continent to European continent,it has a unique geographic position,which is very important in geostrategy.The five countries in Central Asia have very close connections with China's Xinjiang region in many aspects such as geography,politics,economics,nationality and religion.So,they constitute a non-negligible strategic direction for China to maintain safety and stability of its western area.In this paper,international counter-terrorism cooperation in Central Asia was studied and explored.At first,the increasing concerns of China,the US and Russia over Central Asia in recent years were analyzed to embody its great geostrategic value and importance in safety situation from the perspective of great powers.Then,causes of its terrorism and changes in its counter-terrorism situation development were summarized and examined,in order to describe the overall situation of its terrorism threat.Secondly,through studying regional international organizations such as Shanghai Cooperation Organization and existing counter-terrorism cooperation in this region between the US and Russia and Central Asian countries,the basis for further boosting and deepening regional international counter-terrorism cooperation was summarized.Thirdly,challenges in international counter-terrorism cooperation in Central Asian were analyzed.With China's proposal of constructing the Silk Road Economic Belt,withdrawal of the US military forces from Afghanistan,and emergence and eastward permeation of Islamic States,new changes imperceptibly occur in Central Asia's counter-terrorism situation,and new requirements on its safety situation are proposed.Finally,strategies for China to push ahead with international counter-terrorism cooperation in Central Asia were explored and considered.
