A Study On The Cultivation Of Bloody Ethos For Military Personnel In Grass-roots Level:A Positive Psychology's Perspective

Since the President Xi Jinping proposed the new standard of the military personnel which is “Be with faith,be with talents,be with bloody ethos,be with virtues” at the PLA Political Work Conference in 2014,the research on bloody ethos and its cultivation has been booming.However,the studies conducted by our army on cultivation of bloody ethos were still at the beginning period,far away from satisfying the actual need in grassroots.The project designed to cultivate the bloody ethos needs to be more systematic and scientific.In order to push the development of the cultivation of bloody ethos,this study tried to provide theoretical support from a perspective of positive psychology.Results showed a great combination of the related emerging findings in positive psychology area to the cultivation of bloody ethos in our army.Military personnel from two certain regiments in the Eastern Theater Command were chosen as subject and they were given focus group interview separately,distinguished by different units and different administrative levels.The results of the relational encoding of what the subject said in the interview showed that the main approaches to cultivate bloody ethos are: military missions,ideological and political work,constructing military culture and mental health service.Each of them had strengths and weaknesses,and there had been differences between units and administrative levels.To sum up,the work to cultivate bloody ethos so far has been achieved some efforts,but it still has many problems needs to be fixed.Based on the analysis of interview's results,a systematic and feasible project was designed for cultivation of bloody ethos.The study stated clearly about the project on the basis and principle,the participants and instructors,and the details about activities in every period of the project.The project was divided into three parts: for teenage soldiers who just entered army,for regular training and management,and for delicate tasks.This project designed to cultivate bloody ethos of the personnel in grassroots from cognition,emotions and will,which needs to conduct combining with the training and living in grassroots.The participants need to be evaluated regularly on their level of bloody ethos to see if the project worked.Experts were invited to estimate the feasibility and effectiveness of this project,and gave qualified feedback.
