Undergraduate education is the subject and basis of higher education,which is also the key period of students' development on body and mind.The declining quality of undergraduate education has raised intensive concerns in all sectors since higher education enters into popularization in our country.Improving education's quality and cultivating innovative genius are the key factors for further developing.Meanwhile,some colleges and universities are trying to carry out the teaching innovation on tutorial system for fully matching up the credit system,with the increasing concerns in educational world.Tutorial system is based on liberal theory and individualized education,emphasizing on cultivating students' critical and innovative thinking,which makes vital functions on training top-notch genius and enhancing educational quality.The thesis of this study is focused on the investigation and reflection on tutorial system,which exemplifies Nanjing University,and classified into three levels to discuss respectively on university's teaching director,faculty's teaching director and main executors,students on behalf of their faculty.By this investigation can we present the current situation,problems,improving approaches,as well as summarize students' assessment and demand on tutorial system.By virtue of investigation can we find that:In university level,tutorial system has two problems in implementing.The first is the challenge on tutor's limited energy and time;the second is the shortage of policy paper on tutorial system causing teaching chaos.The suggestions I recommend are to complete the universal policies on tutorial system,set up comprehensive teaching system and emphasize on tutors' training depending on teaching center.Also,we should rebuild university's concept and culture to put students' cultivation on fundamental position.In faculty level,the writer interviews college of arts,journalism and communications,Kuangyaming,RSMAS and so on,almost covering with all sorts of tutorial system like SSF,dormitory tutor system.The tutor and students in faculties can't form effective exchange mechanism because of gigantic scientific pressure for tutor and passive learning attitude for students,along with the faultiness of incentive and evaluation system.The academies should provide different supports according to practical situation from the respective of university.There are some measures including alleviating tutor's scientific pressure,training tutors on how to effectively guide undergraduates,providing financial support to guarantee the effective execution of tutorial system.In undergraduate level,the writer analyses students' assessment and feeling on tutorial system from the following viewpoints:the tutor's configuration,guiding frequency,communicative style,duty and location to students.Students demand to tutorial system can show the following facts:tutor's guidance of learning and career,tutor's responsibility to students in teaching qualification,students' desire to strengthen the exchange with tutor.Also,students put forward some higher requirements tutor,for example,some students hope that tutor can guide not only their academic,but also their life.Besides,guidance on going abroad.The thesis of this study can put forward some conductive advices on implementing tutorial system under substantial investigation for research-oriented university.For better carrying out tutorial system should we understand its meaning in policy,give sufficient autonomy to faculty,make connections with other auxiliary systems,which can avert isolation and form complementary relations.Under the context of emphasizing on professional foundation,we can achieve the flexibility of tutorial system.
