Geographyis the science that study earth's surface space, one of its unique symbol is spatiality. It is proved that the results of Geography expert, geography teachersand other geographic workers from year-round work in the field of geography and thinking gradually form the abilities a keen perception of geographical space, location, imagination, without exception. These capabilities are collectively called geo-spatial ability. Only with this ability , they can think of the issue of geography . Geo-spatial ability is the basis for the work of geographers.Students'understanding, and application of geographical space.It relates to the level of geographical study and the level of geographic literacy. It is the basis on whether Geography curriculum standards which is a requirement for students can be finally conducted. High school students especially high school arts students go through high school in-depth geography learning system, so they should get ahigher capacity of the geographic space. This requires geography learners establisht geo-spatial concepts , and form geo-spatial ability. But the ability of geo-spatial positioning ability is the basic ability of the students to obtain the geo-spatial ability. In Actual geography teaching in secondary schools, geo-spatial positioning teaching is the ability to do the concrete.The training on geo-spatial ability begans from the training on geo-spatial positioning ability. The level of geo-spatial positioning ability in some ways restricts the teaching learning process of the geography students and teachers.In this study, it starts from elements of geo-spatial positioning, and design of the questionnaire on geo-spatial positioning ability. The author finds that the level of geo-spatial positioning ability is not high,and there are differences between different classes,different genders and arts and sciences classes. The article analyses the influence factors from the survey results and the degree of influence,and do the related investigation. On this basis, students have to focus on effective training strategies for geo-spatial positioning capabilities.
