A Study On National Traditional Sports And Folk Beliefs Of Wuling Mountain Area

National traditional sports and folk beliefs grow together i n the traditional Chinese culture that they accompany with each other in the long history of Chinese civilization,forming the national traditional sports culture and folk belief culture with long history,various forms,rich content and distinctive featur es after a thousand years of history.As history rolling forward,folk beliefs and national traditional sports realize harmonious intergrowth and form a growing situation that complements each other.The Wuling Mountain Area is the 10 th experimental cultur al ecological protection area since the founding of the People's Republic of China.With the promotion of national culture,a distinctive cultural ecological system of ethnic minorities is formed.National traditional sports and folk beliefs growth togethe r in the fertile soil of culture.This study regards the Wuling Mountain Area as the research region and takes the relationship between national traditional sports and folk beliefs as the research theme,applying the field investigation method,the literat ure method,the interview method,the logic analysis method and the oral history research method.This paper explores the national traditional sports and folk belief culture in the Wuling Mountain Area and analyzes the relationship between the national traditional sports and the folk belief in the Wuling Mountain Area.The main conclusions are as follows:1.The folk belief culture in Wuling Mountain Area is the basic culture for the formation and development of national traditional sports culture.The forma tion of folk belief is earlier than that of national traditional sports culture.With regard to the performance form of the folk belief ritual activities in the Wuling Mountain Area,there are similarities with the modern national traditional sports activi ties in all aspects.Part of the folk belief sacred ceremonies gradually evolved into the national traditional sports with the sports characteristics.In modern society,the national traditional sports activities are carried out along with the folk belief activities and continue to be inherited and developed.Therefore,national traditional sports are a cultural form fostered by folk beliefs and grown up on the soil of folk belief culture.2.The flourishing development of national traditional sports cultur e in Wuling Mountain Area promotes the development of folk belief culture and enriches the folk belief forms.The multi-national cultural characteristics of Wuling Mountain Area have formed abundant national folk custom activities,and the folk festivals h ave become the national cultural feature of Wuling Mountain Area.The traditional folk festivals in Wulingshan Mountain Area are based on specific folk beliefs and usually carry out national traditional sports activities and recreational activities that ar e mainly in the form of “folk sacrifice” and “recreation”,such as martial arts,dragon-lion dance,Jielong dance,Sidaoliujin dance,drum dance,eight people swing,dragon dance and lion dance,stunt of the Miao,knife ladder,eating beef and other traditional sports activities during the Autumn Festival.These activities express the gratitude for the ancestors and gods and the satisfaction of the real life.It is true that national traditional sports activities are widely spread in Wuling Mountain Area an d enrich the form of folk beliefs.3.The folk belief culture in Wuling Mountain Area cultivates the national traditional sports culture,and the national traditional sports culture creates the opportunity for the development of folk belief,which can comp lement each other and make the grand inheritance of the new era.The impact of modern culture has led to the decline of national traditional culture and the separation of traditional national sports from the original culture.The growth soil of culture has been taken over,which results in the verge of extinction.Because of the impact of foreign religions,the number of folk believers decreased,and the religious regions were constantly occupied and declined.The national traditional sports culture in Wuli ng Mountain Area is cultivated by the folk belief as the maternal culture,taking the opportunity to carry forward the inheritance.At the same time,the folk belief takes the national traditional sports as the inheritance opportunity to expand the inherit ance space,promote the advantageous inheritance of folk beliefs and form a mutually supportive and complementary inheritance mechanism.4.The harmonious unity of national traditional sports and folk belief is also the harmony of the truth,goodness,beauty of modern sports and the self-consolation from entertainment.In the modern society of lacking faith and the pursuit of truth,goodness and beauty of sports,the relationship of contradiction and unity has been formed.On the one hand,we should pursue the “truth” of the essence of sports,which means the true ultimate humanistic concern,and the perfect beauty of competitive sports;on the other hand,we should regard good competition results as the spiritual appeal to amuse ourselves.It leads to the contradiction and unity between belief and sports spirit.In the new era,harmonious mutual assistance is an effective way to realize intergrowth.In this way,folk beliefs and national traditional sports rely on the policy of intangible cultural heritage to make up for each other,absorb the essence of foreign culture,expand the new path and realize cultural intergrowth.
