| The rapid development of informatization directly promotes the development of learning theories and the changing of learning methods. The development of multimedia networks and communication technologies has brought learning methods into the era of digital learning(E-Learning).The development of mobile technology has pushed the digital learning to the mobile learning(M-Learning).The development of the innovation of educational theories and pervasive computing have opened up the exploration of ubiquitous learning(U-Learning).Ubiquitous learning is a new type of digital learning method that can happen at any time and everywhere, which is in line with the needs of human lifelong learning and is the historical necessity of the social development.Through the literature review, this paper finds that ubiquitous learning is still in the primary stage of exploration, and practice is also in the experimental phase of the project. The development and practice of ubiquitous learning depends on the development of information technology.Virtual reality, augmented reality, and mixed reality technologies are considered to have a wide range of application prospects in the field of education. In virtual reality, the user can only feel the completely virtual three-dimensional space constructed by the computer, which disconnects the user from reality.Augmented reality is the further development of virtual reality,in which the user can present the required information in a three-dimensional manner at a designated location in the real world around him. However, the virtual information does not interact with the real surroundings, and its reality is poor.Mixed reality is a further extension of augmented reality. It perceives the geometric information of the real environment through the environment-aware technology, and can freely place any amount of three-dimensional virtual information in the real environment. And the three-dimensional virtual information can physically interact with the real world. If the virtual object is true enough,it is difficult for the user to distinguish what is real and what is virtual, and the sense of reality and immersion is stronger. The main features of mixed reality are the combination of virtual reality,real-time interaction,three-dimensional display, scene fusion, and strong immersion.Mixed reality technology can provide ubiquitous learning with real learning scenarios, present three-dimensional learning resources, and adopt natural interactive methods.Mixed reality is more compatible with ubiquitous learning. But there are many researches on the application of augmented reality and virtual reality in education, while the mixed reality has not been involved. Therefore,it is of great theoretical value to design a complete, systematic and feasible ubiquitous learning environment and implementation framework based on mixed reality, which strengthened the deep integration of mixed reality and ubiquitous learning. In view of the more perfect wireless network construction and more complex knowledge in colleges and universities and the more personalized learning content of college students, college students are more capable of accepting new technologies.Carrying out ubiquitous learning practice research in universities has important practical significance to improve the university students’ learning efficiency and to popularize the ubiquitous learning in the whole society.Through questionnaires, this paper investigates the current situation of ubiquitous learning of universities students and the tendency of learning methods based on mixed reality. The investigation has found:(1)Undergraduates have low awareness of ubiquitous learning and mixed reality technologies, but they have high support;(2)The fragmentation of time and the lack of suitable learning resources are the main factors that hinders the ubiquitous learning of university students;(3)The penetration rate of college students’ smartphones is extremely high, and the cost of ubiquitous learning equipment is diversified;(4)There is still room for the improvement of the coverage, stability, and speed of campus wireless networks;(5)Learning resources tend to be dynamic and lively videos, but the construction of three-dimensional learning resources is lacking;(6)Learning methods based on mixed reality are generally supported, but there are differences in professional categories and educational qualifications. On the basis of investigation and analysis,a complete, concrete and practical university-wide ubiquitous learning environment based on mixed reality is designed, which includes five following main aspects:(1)Basic support environment includes ubiquitous learning cloud platform, mixed reality cloud technology, campus wireless network, smart phones, and cost-effective 3D smart glasses;(2)construction of immersive 3D learning resources;(3)immersive 3D interaction;(4)Constructing real immersive learning scenarios;(5)Personalized services, including the establishment of personal learning spaces, personalized course selection, and personalized recommendations. At the same time,it needs to design the software and hardware architecture of mixed reality and the key technologies of environment awareness and 3D interaction. For R&D staff reference.Based on the above-mentioned college students’ investigation of the status and tendency of ubiquitous learning based on mixed reality, and the difficulty in constructing a ubiquitous learning environment, this paper proposes to effectively implement and promote ubiquitous learning in colleges and universities.Mixed reality is the most advanced technology for superimposing virtual 3D information in a real environment, and it is one of the most promising technologies for changing our lives, learning and even thinking. The ubiquitous learning of ‘everyone, every hour, everywhere’ is a new type of learning method that builds a learning society and realizes the idea of lifelong learning.Based on a deep understanding of mixed reality, this paper reinforces the deep integration of mixed reality technology with ubiquitous learning, enriches the theoretical research and technical support of ubiquitous learning, and provides a reference for the implementation of ubiquitous learning in colleges based on mixed reality. |
