The textbook of education believes that homework is an organic part of teaching,and a bridge linking the study in class with the outside study,and it can influence the students' learning in many aspects.In recent years,many researchers have questioned whether homework is really useful for students.Whether too much homework weakens learning motivation has been debated in the past.Through the comprehensive collation of the previous literature,it is found that the relationship between the two is very controversial.Therefore,the relationship between homework and learning motivation and various dimensions is further clarified through meta analysis.Then,through the investigation and analysis of Chinese mainland students,the relationship between homework and learning motivation is further verified.The results of meta analysis showed that homework was positively related to self-efficacy,internal motivation,mastery goal,performance goal and expected value.The relationship between homework and learning motivation is influenced by regional cultural background and the level of the grade of the subjects.The result of meta analysis shows that the previous research results are highly heterogeneous and difficult to be summed up in Chinese junior high school students.In order to answer the question of the relationship between the homework behavior and the learning motivation of the junior high school students in China,using a self-designed comprehensive homework questionnaire and self-designed questionnaire of learning motivation(including self-efficacy,intrinsic motivation,achievement motivation,self esteem needs)on the mainland to carry out a survey of junior high school students.The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between homework and learning motivation(r=0.636,p<0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between the total score of homework and the sense of self-efficacy,achievement motivation and self-esteem.There is a significant positive correlation between the dimensions of MHS and the various dimensions of learning motivation,and the correlation coefficient is between 0.229-0.505.On the whole,homework behavior is closely related to learning motivation.In future research,further consideration should be given to the causal relationship between homework behavior and learning motivation.
