The mathematics application consciousness refers to the psychological tendency to solve problems by using mathematical knowledge,thought and methods.The mathematics application consciousness of high school students is a significant part that consists of the core competencies of the students,which plays an important role in promoting the students' ability to improve their mathematics ability and the formation of correct mathematics concept.How to cultivate and develop high school students' awareness of mathematics application are always important issues in the research of the mathematics education.Based on the research status of mathematics application consciousness at home and abroad,this study mainly explains and defines concepts such as consciousness and application consciousness in mathematics.By taking 300 students and 35 math teachers on different level in X and Y senior high schools in Baiyin City,Gansu Province as samples.This paper analyzes the current situation,existing problems and influencing factors of the current mathematics application consciousness of high school students in China.It finds that the attention of teachers and students is not enough,the teaching of mathematics application is not deep,and the teaching materials are not served well in the teaching of mathematics application.The high school students' consciousness of mathematical application is weak.Little attention has been paid to the problems solved by mathematical knowledge and methods in the surrounding life.The practical value of mathematics is not comprehended very well.Mathematical knowledge,thought and methods are not often used to solve practical problems in life.Mathematical application value is seldom explored when learning new mathematical knowledge.At the same time,it indicates that teaching materials and curriculum,evaluation system,teachers,students,families,schools and society,and other factors also affect the cultivation of high school students' consciousness of mathematics application.On the basis of the case study at Y high school in Baiyin City,Gansu Province,this paper puts forward the following approaches and strategies of training and developing high school students' consciousness of mathematics application: strengthening teachers' consciousness of mathematics application,stimulating students' interest in mathematics learning,paying attention to classroom teaching,carrying out mathematical practice and "mathematical modeling" activities,expanding and renewing teaching materials.The content of mathematics application and a teaching evaluation system should also be constructed,which is conducive to the cultivation of students' mathematics application consciousness.
