Chinese textbook is generally composed by four systems:model essay,knowledge,assignment and supplementary.Currently,many teachers and students pay neglect the supplementary system of the textbook.Influenced by exam-oriented education,teachers and students pay only attention to the study of model essay and regard the four systems being separated to each other,which cuts apart the internal connections among the four systems.As one of the four systems of textbook,supplementary system helps in the teaching of model essay and knowledge,and be able to closely integrate with assignment system.Supplementary system can serve as guidance for preparing and identifying teaching goals.Supplementary system features well capacity of expansion,being helpful in training language ability and expanding the vision of the students.In this paper,the usage of supplementary system of required senior high school Chinese.textbook published by People's Education Press is purposely discussed.Firstly,the author defines the complementary system from the perspectives of content and function,and concludes that complementary system is equally important as other three systems(model essay,knowledge and consignment),being displayed in the textbook in forms of text and image.The significance of complementary system lies in helping the students to understand and read the textbook and cultivate the ability of self-learning.At the same time,it also assists the students in teaching design and implementation.Complementary system plays important role in teaching process.The author acknowledges the value of complementary system from its functions of guidance and expansion.Secondly,the author introduces and classifies complementary materials in complementary system of PEP required senior high school Chinese textbook,and characterizes its composition,so as to help the teachers and students to better understand the contents and realize the value and significance of complementary system.With questionnaires,the author has analyzed and made statistic on the usage of complementary system of PEP required senior high school Chinese textbook,and found that the main problems at present include:1)complete negligence.The intention of the editor is neglected;2)lack of plan and use with blindness;3)limited to textbook and insufficient expansion and complementary materials;and 4)lack of sense of big picture and use one-sidedly.Based on above findings,the author proposes following strategies for the teachers to use complementary system in teaching:1)re-positioning the value of complementary system,and use it to identify teaching contents and optimize teaching design;2)tactfully evoke questions to advance teaching process;3)link acquired and new knowledge to exam acquired knowledge.
