Since the reform and opening up,secondary vocational education has been developing for forty years and has made remarkable achievements in all aspects.Vocational high school,a significant role in secondary vocational education,takes on the important task of training junior and intermediate technical talents and high-quality workers for the country.From a historical perspective,the history of vocational high schools will be reviewed,the causes of their predicaments will be identified,and the laws of their existence will be explored,on which basis we can draw on past experiences and discover the driving force so as to achieve sustainable development.Taking vocational high school as the research object and the reform and opening up as the time span,this paper reviews and combs the history of the vocational high and case study.It is expounded from four aspects: the idea of running a school,the scale of running a school,the conditions of running a school and the model of running a school.On the basis of the history of the vocational high school as a whole in our country and taking a vocational high school in Hebei as a case,this paper introduces the changes and the experience gained in the accumulation of the vocational high school in the concept of running a school,the scale of running a school,the conditions of running a school,the model of running a school,thus putting forward the problems in the course of running the vocational high school: there are some differences in the implementation of school running ideas,the large scale of school running while its poor quality,the gap between the school running conditions and the training targets and the lack of deep cooperation among the school running subjects.It is further concluded that the reasons are mainly focused on the deviation of school-running orientation,indistinct characteristic of running a school,the lack of the assessment system,the unidentified employment prospect and the short of connotation construction,formalization of teacher training as well as mutually beneficial school-enterprise cooperation mechanism and so on.In the end,firstly,each school is guided by the advanced concept of education to enhance the benefits;secondly,we should strengthen the management system and improve the vitality of running schools;thirdly,we should carry out projects of quality improvement and improve the quality of education;fourthly,we should increase the input of funds and improve the conditions for running schools;finally,we should establish a stable school-enterprise cooperation mechanism and enhance enterprise participation enthusiasm.Strategies for the future development of vocational high schools are proposed according to the above five aspects.
