Ancient and modern,people at home and abroad,have different concept of importance of reading.In the past,students' extracurricular reading has not been attached great importance as the whole country were stumbled with examination-oriented education.As the popularization of the education concept of quality education,life-long education,language education,include the"Chinese course standard of full-time compulsory education(experimental versi on)" and“New education experiment" by professor Yongxin Zhu,more and more schools began attach great importance to the extracurricular reading,to create elegant campus.It has been a long time for having launched extracurricular reading.But still there exists living problems.Go back to the source,these problems are relevant to the adequacy and scientificity of the guidance to the students by teachers,parents,and society.There is realistic significance for parents,teachers and the whole society to provide the necessary extracurricular reading instruction and high-quality reading environment as we want primary school students to form their reading ability and to have the habit of independent reading,for the reason that teachers and parents still have the guidance role as the cognitive level of primary school students is in the concrete operational stage,which means that there cognitive abilities are still in low level and limited,can read less and lack of independent learning ability.This study did the following work.First of all,conducted a field observation on extracurricular reading in JX elementary school in Yanji city,and learned the work done by the JX primary school on extracurricular reading.Secondly,regarding the students as the subjects of the study,the "questionnaire on the status of extracurricular reading in JX primary school" was distributed,and the results were analyzed.Finally,interviewed the students,Chinese teachers,parents and social departments of JX primary school.According to the field observation,questionnaire,interview outline,got the reasons for the poor extracurricular reading effect of senior students in JX primary school and analyzed it,then offered some suggestions to improve the effect of extracurricular reading.Through soring out the results of the study,got the following five conclusions.(1)Extracurricular reading is of great importance on senior students' Chinese grades and practices after extracurricular reading.(2)Schools' management on the time,guidance,condition,examination and evaluation of extracurricular reading needs a great improvement.(3)The capacity and duration of teachers' guidance on extracurricular reading are both not enough.(4)The absence and incapacity of parents' engagement in their children' s extracurricular reading activities is also one of conclusions.(5)The construction of social libraries needs to improve.Based on the above conclusions,the suggestions are as follows.(1)Primary School needs to further optimize the process management of extracurricular reading.(2)Teachers should continuously promote self-improvement and enhance the guidance of extracurricular reading on students.(3)Activate parents to participate in their kids' extracurricular reading and improve their capacity.(4)Social libraries should improve the construction and propaganda,building a healthy social atmosphere.
